Who You'll Be Learning From

Meet Joseph Holland

Joseph Holland is an Author, Attorney, Speaker, Entrepreneur, And Ordained Minister with outreach ministries to the homeless and other needy people, and an Acclaimed Community Servant.

As a diplomat’s son, star athlete, and Ivy League scholar Joseph had a world of opportunities awaiting him in corporate America. Instead, he moved to Harlem during the nadir of its blight and endeavored to contribute to a neighborhood that was tough in every sense of the word.

A five-year sojourn became a three-decade commitment, as his career morphed from practicing law to empowering the homeless, to running small businesses, to writing plays and books, to serving in politics, to building housing—all aimed at making a difference in the lives of individuals in need.

Joseph has created Faith-Based Real Estate to inspire everyone with the tools that need to leverage real estate to empower their impact.

The LIVE Masterclass Starts At 7 PM ET On August 22nd.

Here’s What People Are Saying About Faith-Based Real Estate

“Affordable housing is on the wish list of many United Church congregations that are trying to do good while keeping the doors open. They’re looking to trade what they have, valuable real estate, for renewed church space and long term funding. Many also opt for partnerships with commercial or condominium developers. Land represents a huge opportunity for a church in transition [...].”

“Often our greatest opportunities lay in hiding behind our greatest challenges. This could easily be one of those times. While our in-person models are changing, interest rates are increasing almost as fast as construction prices. Real estate is harder to find. Yet, this presents us with an opportunity to use our buildings in ways we haven’t thought of before, not just to create income opportunities, but to activate our sites for community use.”

“Monetizing church property seems to be a “hot idea” these days as congregations seek to off-set rising costs and flat or declining pledge bases. Mostly, the idea revolves around using the land that churches own in different ways to create an income stream for the congregation. While care must be taken to avoid loss of the property-tax exemption granted to churches, there are methods available for congregations to create significant income streams to support church activities.”

Rev. Dr. Dennis S. Tierney

“Even for churches that are not facing closure or uncertainty, many church buildings and property are underutilized. Methodist leaders in North Carolina have estimated that church property is in actual use for only about 12 percent of the week.”

“Community churches can always find a valuable use for extra money. From church improvements and congregation events to charitable works, your budget plays an important role in fulfilling the church’s shared mandate. In fact, most churches could benefit from several positive sources of income through strategic use of existing property assets”

PRAISE FOR JOSEPH

"The holistic tools are having big impact here in Liberia and I intend to take the holistic tools all over Africa."

-Bishop Emmanuel Jones

“The materials are so dynamic that we’ve included them in our ongoing training programs.

-Jason Pittman, Mission Waco

“I like the holistic curriculum so much that I passed it on to a sister ministry in Arkansas.”

-Rev. Steve Fix

"Just a note to tell you that I am using this program in the Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility and have used it the past three years."

"It is awesome, this is the second set we have ordered. Thanks for your hard work in making this program possible."

-Gloria Nunn, Missions Assistant

“Throughout the tapes, Holland presents a practical, no-nonsense approach to daily living …In this new war against poverty

one can hardly imagine a better or more practical weapon than Holistic Hardware.”

-Love Express, New York, NY

"My vision for Holistic Hardware is to see churches all around the tri-state area offer this valuable life skills curriculum as an outreach to their communities.

I believe these tools play a vital role in helping a person build, what I call, “a personal house of progress”, which leads to productive living and maintaining meaningful employment."

-Patrick McNair

"I want to tell you that we are very pleased with the Holistic Hardware course that we are using for the homeless, and chronically unemployed here.

I wanted to let you know that we have added another dimension to the program by having the class work on a volunteer project for a small stipend for each day of class. We run our classes 2 days a week for 5 weeks and they work 2 hours each day at a community project giving back to the community. We also keep the class size to 6 so they begin to open up to each other and really encourage each other outside the class. "

-Nancy DeSandre, Waukesha, WI

Above all else, the Holistic Hardware curriculum is immediately appreciated by all who’ve seen it (or even heard of it). It is appreciated for its simple practicality, for its comfortable translation of timeless success principles rooted in the Christian faith, and its utility as an empowering communication device (a language) detailing the issues of poverty—economic, social, spiritual—for all of us who want to become better neighbors in the full community.

-James Crawford, Community Faith Partners, Ithaca, NY

"I just wanted you to know how this great tool is changing lives in NE Florida.

As a corrections deputy and a child of the King, it really bothered me that I kept seeing some of the same people return to our facility in St Johns County. I would try to encourage better thinking, share biblical wisdom and do some mentoring to inmates that were county sentenced in hopes they would break the cycle. Occasionally, it bore fruit, but more often than not, I’d see them again. Some are in my current group.
